A person’s astrological sign can tell you a lot about them, but can it reveal their taste in tattoos? We examined some of the most recognizable tattooed celebrities to determine if their tattoo choices aligned with their sun signs.
Rihanna, Pisces Singer
One of Rihanna’s first tattoos was the glyph of Pisces, tattooed behind her right ear. It was done in Tokyo by a famous Brazilian artist along with the music notes on her foot, in 2006.
DEMI LOVATO, LEO Singer
Is it on the nose that Demi Lovato would get a lion tattoo as a Leo? Leos like to stand out and take center stage—and nothing catches people’s attention quite like a hand tattoo.
Rita Ora, Sagittarius Singer
Singer and stellar Sagittarius star Rita Sahatçiu Ora has the sign of Sagg behind her right ear – it’s the archer! She has the letter ‘R’ behind her left lobe… Only thing is, the bow and arrow are facing downwards, which goes against the typical upwards direction that Saggy usually shoots for.
Hayden Panettiere, Leo Actress
With the glyph of Leo positioned behind her right ankle, Hayden pays homage to her StarSignStyle! This tattoo was Hayden’s first and Panettiere has admitted that her mother was reduced to tears when she got it without her permission:
“My mom didn’t see it for ages, then, I was being body-scanned for a special effect on Heroes. And she saw it, tried to rub it off and suddenly her eyes welled up.”
Nicole Richie, Virgo Celebrity
Keeping it demure, virtuous Virgo the Maiden is represented by its namesake as Nicole Richie has Virgin tattooed on the inside of her right wrist. Still, some tattoo’s will be regrettable for some:
“I’m a Virgo and the sign is a virgin. So when I was 16, I got the word virgin tattooed on my wrist, thinking I was sooo deep and cool. And now I just look really weird having virgin written across my wrist and I have to explain it.”
David Dimbleby, Scorpio Presenter
This Question Time broadcaster had his first tattoo done at the ripe age of 75, during the making of a maritime show for the BBC. He said:
“You are only old once. I have always wanted a tattoo. I thought I might as well have it done now. It’s a dream come true.”
Love that. You’re never too old to live the dream David!
ARIANA GRANDE—CANCER
Cancers are emotional beings who value family first. Ariana Grande fits these traits with this tattoo by Mira Mariah, which is dedicated to her grandmother. Grande also has a tattoo for Mac Miller, her late boyfriend who passed in September of 2018.
Suvi Koponen, Aries Model
The Finnish model Suvi Koponen sports an Aries glyph behind her right ear.
Rochelle Humes, Aries Singer
Saturday’s singer Rochelle has a tattoo on the inside of her left wrist with two glyphs of the zodiac, which translates to ‘Aries Love Pisces’, representing her star sign, Aries, and her husband Marvin Humes, born on March 18th under the sign of Pisces, the Fish.
Anja Konstantino, Leo Model
This luscious Leo has both Sun and Moon in the constellation of cats – Leo the Lion!
Cara Delevingne, Leo Model
Luscious Leo model Cara has a little lion inked on her forefinger. Her first tattoo, she immediately unveiled it via Instagram but it was artist Keith (Bang Bang) McCurdy who steered the star to the final design.
He revealed the whole story to Jay-Z’s website Life + Times:
“Cara wanted to write the word “Lion” down her finger. And I told her, I was like, “I don’t think that’s very sexy. Why don’t we do a picture of a lion like a piece of jewelry, like to decorate you?” Tattooing is so much of a fashion and people don’t really notice, but you got to do something timeless, because you don’t want to do something that’s a trend, like a lower back tribal tattoo that was cool in the ’90s and now people are covering them up all the time. So you really want to do something timeless and unique. Especially on somebody like Cara. So I gave her the idea, and she loved it, and we kicked that thing’s ass.”
Asami Zdrenka, Virgo Singer
Born on the 15th September 1995, Asami has Sun and Venus in Virgo, Neptune and Uranus in Capricorn and Saturn in Pisces – three zodiac constellations she’s decided to mark inside her left ankle. The singer has Moon in Gemini and I’m curious to know her rising sign…
Kreayshawn, Libra Rapper
Rapper Kreayshawn has a pink diamond accompanying the word LIBRA on her left wrist. The artist says of her body ink:
“For me tattoos have kind of formed themselves into like mini therapy sessions. Like, you know, you’re having a hard time at a point in your life and you’re like ‘I’m just gonna get a tattoo. It’s almost like every year of my life has this moment where I get this tattoo. I look at them and can remember how I was feeling at the time.”
MILEY CYRUS—SAGITTARIUS
Sagittarians are free spirits who can’t be constrained. Instead of being tied down to one design, Miley Cyrus opted for a collection of small tattoos that gave her the freedom to pick and choose designs as she went.
PETE DAVIDSON—SCORPIO
As a Scorpio, when Pete Davidson falls in love, he falls hard. This applies to tattoos because when he was dating Ariana Grande, he got a number of tattoos to represent their relationship. 
DWAYNE ‘THE ROCK’ JOHNSON—TAURUS
Like Demi Lovato, The Rock got a tattoo that embodies his astrological sign. Taurus is represented through a bull, which like The Rock, are hardworking and of course, stubborn.
LADY GAGA—ARIES
As an Aries, Lady Gaga is a natural leader. She owns the title ‘Mother Monster,’ which represents her loyalty to her fanbase and shows her strengths as an Aries.
Avril Lavigne
Avril Lavigne’s days of itty-bitty tattoos are officially over. In October 2017 she tattooed a collection of astrological symbols so big that they take up her whole forearm. The symbols are:
– the astrological symbol of Libra- ? – the alchemy elemental symbol for air
– the planetary symbol of Venus
Taken together all three symbols represent Avril’s September 27th birthday — Libra is her star sign, air is the element associated with Libra, and Venus is the ruling planet for Libra.
The Venus symbol is of course also used as a symbol for women, but that does not seem to be why Avril chose it.
The double chevrons « » are known as guillemets and are used as quotation marks in some languages. These symbols have also caught on in tattoo culture with the supposed meaning “create your own reality.” It is claimed to be a viking symbol, however there is no documentation of this usage. We believe that Avril is simply using them as quotes around the other symbols.
JUSTIN BIEBER—PISCES
Pisces is an incredibly spiritual sign, which explains Bieber’s dedication to getting tattoos that represent his faith. 
Clearly Jessica Alba has been paying close attention to the latest tattoo trends: The star just used her children’s zodiac signs as inspiration for her latest ink.
ADAM LEVINE—PISCES
Pisces value art and this shows in Adam Levine’s tattoo collection. He went through the effort to find some of the best traditional artists, including Mark Mahone, for his body suit. 
HALSEY—LIBRA
Libras find happiness by being enriched in beauty and art. Although many of Halsey’s tattoos have deep meaning, as a Libra she likely got many of her tattoos simply because she enjoyed them aesthetically.
Stefanie Knight has a tattoo with the Sagittarius sign behind her left ear.
Kyra Santoro has an Aries symbol on her left wrist. Aries in her zodiac sun sign.
Tameka “Tiny” Cottle-Harris has a sun and the cancer zodiac sign tattoo on her lower back.

Ajiona Alexus has a tattoo of the Pisces symbol behind her right ear which is almost identical to Rihanna’s. Both women have Pisces as their zodiac sign. Ajiona was born on March 16, 1996.
Lottie Moss has a Capricorn (her zodiac sign) tattoo on her left hip.
Taylor Alesia has her zodiac sign (Libra) tattooed on her left wrist. In a YouTube video she said that zodiac means everything to her and she really believes that zodiac signs describe the personality of a person.
Zolita has the zodiac sign of her brother and sister inked on her right wrist – a capricorn.
Monica Brown has a tattoo on the right wrist of her zodia sign – Scorpio.
Lucy Hale’s New Zodiac Tattoo Was Written In The Stars
Out of all the tattoo trends to come out of 2019, constellation designs are perhaps the most popular, especially among the Hollywood elite. The Act ‘s Joey King has a tattoo of the Ursa Major constellation on her ribs, and Jessica Alba got three tattoos inspired by her children’s zodiac signs earlier this year. Now, Lucy Hale joins the group with her brand-new tattoo.
Looks like Hale recently paid a visit to celebrity tattoo artist Dr. Woo to get a constellation tattooed onto her right arm. But this isn’t just a random collection of stars. Hale got her zodiac sign, Gemini, and its accompanying constellation etched onto her body a whole month before her birthday on June 14.
That starry line work isn’t even the most interesting part about Hale’s newest addition. Turns out, the placement of the tattoo is even more meaningful than the design itself. Did you know that every zodiac sign is assigned a ruling body part? Hale probably does, considering the fact that Gemini’s is the arm. A coincidence? We think not.
